A quiet kind of forever.
It started in high school: two friends, one boy trying to impress one girl—and getting very firmly shot down. They stayed friends, while he wisely remained too scared to try again.
University, COVID, a few magical dates and holidays later, friendship finally got its plot twist. In December 2024, after guarding a ring through an entire day at Disney World, Deetlef proposed beneath the final fireworks—and the Disney magic Samantha had always loved became her own real-life moment. This time, she said yes.
